Love Our Park

fespp diggin at the gardens

Eastern State Penitentiary Park is built on the enthusiasm and support of the neighborhood’s residents. Each year, FESPP holds four major events that require volunteer time and energy to be successful: Brown Street lawn reseeding, Urban Beach Party, Great Eastern State Break Out Race, and Treecycling. These events raise funds and provide necessary maintenance for our park to thrive.

If you don’t have the time to volunteer but would like to show your support financially, consider contributing to our annual funding goals. Send your check to FESPP, P.O. Box 56080, Philadelphia PA 19130 or click the big red “Donate” button at the top right of this page to access our Pay Pal link. As a 501(c)3 non-profit, your contribution to FESPP may be tax-deductible. We also seek support from local businesses and foundations, though your help is vital.

Corinthian Gardens

Thanks to volunteer efforts of dozens of local residents, Corinthian Gardens debuted its first community and household garden plots in spring 2014, but more help is constantly needed to maintain and improve this neighborhood gem. Also, if you are interested in a household garden plot, send a request to You will need to work 15 volunteer hours annually as a household, inclusive of at least 2 volunteer hours for FESPP annual events such as the Urban Beach Party or the Great Eastern State Breakout Race.

If you are interested in finding out more about volunteer opportunities at the garden, send an email to or check the Events page for upcoming garden workdays.
